It’s simple Wayne – Axe the Tax
30-January-2012
The Gillard Government has again proved it is without a clue on how to halt the slide in Australia’s job market and a faltering local economy.
During an interview on Radio National today, Treasurer Wayne Swan talked up Australia’s economy against a flailing European market only to admit his (May 2011) forecast of 500,000 new jobs in two years was utter nonsense.
“He seems to have no idea on what the unemployed, and employers for that matter, are going through”, says Sussan Ley, Coalition spokesperson for Employment Participation.
“Perhaps the Treasurer might want to pick up the phone and call his Opposition counterparts. Both Joe Hockey and I could then let him in on the secret. Dump the Carbon Tax.”
“Every time I walk into a corner store, retail store, training provider – anyone – it’s the same story. The onset of the Carbon Tax this year is sterilising job prospects across the country.”
“The flow on effects of this Tax mean bosses can’t be sure what their bottom line will be this year, they’re not about to risk their own job by putting on another worker right now.”
“Want to get employers employing Treasurer? Axe the tax”, Ms Ley concluded.
