Sussan Ley MP Rolls Up Her Sleeves For Small Business

30-July-2010

Member for Farrer, Sussan Ley MP, will be joining more than 80 of her State and Federal colleagues across NSW as they are put to work as part of the NSW Business Chamber’s annual Pollies for Small Business program.
Ms Ley will be visiting Albury business “Harvest Thyme” at 449 Dean Street, Albury on Friday 30 July at 11 am.
She said was looking forward to the experience of being in a small business operator’s shoes for a day.
“The contribution of small businesses to the community is sometimes underestimated, so this is a great opportunity to raise the profile of small businesses in Albury, and the Farrer electorate,” she said.
NSW Business Chamber chief executive, Stephen Cartwright, said with much of the focus was often on the big-picture issues, at times the concerns of small business can get lost.
“Pollies for Small Business puts our politicians at the coalface and gives small business operators the chance to raise their concerns directly with their local MP. As the economy moves towards recovery, this opportunity has never been more important,” Mr Cartwright said.
“Last year over 80 State and Federal politicians took part from the major parties, greens and independents, including the Premier and NSW Opposition Leader.
“This is a great program. It helps businesspeople and MPs understand one another better and we should encourage and support any measures that can help achieve that”, Mr Cartwright concluded.
The NSW Business Chamber Pollies for Small Business program is run in co-operation with the local Chamber of Commerce network.
