Copy that. First Michael Douglas, now John Howard
02-February-2012

The Prime Minister’s plans to introduce income contingent loans for the VET sector
almost mirror a Coalition commitment under John Howard made five years ago.
Coalition spokesperson for Employment Participation, Sussan Ley, says “you would have thought Labor had learnt their lesson copying lines from a fictional US President, now they’re bootlegging our old policies”.
“I am also worried Julia Gillard’s speech writers forgot this is a plan they already scripted and flagged with the media in October last year.”
“While Ms Gillard’s pledge smacks of a desperate leader scrounging out used ideas, I am pleased the Government has finally recognised the vital role TAFE and Training institutions play in meeting job market needs.”
“Unfortunately, given Labor’s record on implementing employment policies, including
scrapped promises of 500,000 new jobs and 700,000 Productivity Places, I’m not holding my breath on this one coming to fruition”, Ms Ley concluded.
