Ley heads west as MPs head home for 2010
29-November-2010
Member for Farrer, Sussan Ley, will be in the Far West this week following the final sitting of Federal Parliament for the year.
Key on Ms Ley’s agenda will be further talks hoping to finalise Broken Hill’s preferred model for a GP Super Clinic, being assisted by the Riverina Division of General Practice.
Ms Ley says "while pleased some progress was made at meetings during this last week, I hope to see some common consensus appear in coming days".
The local MP has also written a letter to the Health Minister, requesting an extension
to lodge a unified Super Clinic application. "This will ensure interested parties have a fair and reasonable chance to put in the best possible application to achieve the best outcome for our region" she said.
Ms Ley’s trip, which includes meetings in Broken Hill and Wilcannia, was delayed when the House of Representatives was recalled today to vote on last minute amendments passed by the Senate on Friday.
She says "unfortunately, this meant I could not attend the opening of the new CentaCare office at Wilcannia today but look forward to dropping by tomorrow (Tue)".
During Tuesday and Wednesday, Ms Ley will also meet with members of the
Wilcannia Shire, Lifeline, St Vincent de Paul, Salvation Army and a stop by at St Therese's Community School in Wilcannia.
